This chapel features a beautiful doorway with arches rising from twisted columns.

This graceful chapel was built at the end of the 15th century. The façade features a beautiful doorway with arches rising from twisted colonnettes to form a flowery stem. The shingled bell tower is also worth a look.

Now disused, the chapel is used for exhibitions and concerts, especially in fine weather, a good way to combine history and culture. There's a fine view of its graceful chevet from the other bank of the Creuse, which we also recommend taking a stroll along.

Chapelle Saint-Benoit 36200 Argenton-Sur-Creuse
La Chapelle Saint-Benoît se trouve à Argenton-Sur-Creuse. Elle était fermée le jour de ma visite, en octobre 2021, mais j'ai pu admirer l'extérieur, notamment la porte très ouvragée et belle et le clocher à l'origine couvert de bardeaux de châtaignier et restauré en 1966. C'est cependant la montjoie, la petite niche abritant une copie de la statue de la Vierge à l'Enfant, située sur la façade latérale gauche de la chapelle, qui m'a le plus émue par sa finesse et sa délicatesse.
