Located in the first mechanical lingerie workshop opened in 1860, this museum is unique in Europe and traces the history of the shirt from the Middle Ages to the present day. It contains more than 12,000 items, from garments to the tools used to make them. It also has an important iconographic collection (catalogues, engravings of designers, etc.). A dressmaking workshop has even been reconstructed on the second floor to show how a shirt was made, as well as the life of the workers.

Annual closing from December 24th to mid-February. From February to June and from September to December, open every day except Monday from 9:30 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm. In July - August, open every day except Monday morning from 10am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 6.30pm. Adult: €5 reduced rate: €2.50. Free for children under 6 years old

The Musée de la Chemiserie et de l'Élégance Masculine is located in Argenton-sur-Creuse. Here, you can discover the work and life of the "chemisières", and the different stages in the manufacture of a shirt: pattern-making, cutting, assembly, folding... The museum is decorated with numerous photos of workshops and a video showing an industrial memory that was still present just a few years ago. You'll also find a quick overview of the evolution of the shirt, as well as industrial machinery from the 1860s to the 1890s. The museum also features textile collections on the theme of men's clothing. From time to time, the museum offers temporary exhibitions, special offers and events to reveal new collections and articles.
