The church of Saint-Laurent-et-Notre-Dame de Gargilesse-Dampierre is a Catholic church located in the commune of Gargilesse-Dampierre, in the Indre department of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Built in the 12th century, it features a Romanesque architectural style. The church contains many treasures from this period, including fantastic animals carved on the capitals, biblical scenes, a frescoed crypt and a small Romanesque stained glass window dating from the 12th century. A Christ on the cross, with legs slightly bent and feet nailed separately, is also present. The church is a real gem of the region's heritage and is sure to charm visitors.

ce n'est pas l'extase qui vous attend comme pour celles de l'abbatiale de Saint SAVIN sur GARTEMPE à 50 km plus à l'ouest, mais à coup sûr vous serez séduits par les scènes du Nouveau Testament de belle facture artistique qui ornent les murs et le plafond (Visitation, annonciation, visite des Rois Mages , fuite en EGYPTE)
Par chance, un historien de l'art se trouvait sur place lorsque j'ai visité l'endroit, du coup la visite a pris une autre dimension
