THE WHITE TOWER
A tower in Issoudun offers a panoramic view of the town, where major medieval festivals are also held every year.
This fortified tower was built between 1195 and 1202 at the request of Richard the Lionheart, King of England and Duke of Aquitaine. After his death, and thanks to the marriage of Louis of France and Blanche of Castile, the tower returned to the kingdom of France.
Discover the history of Blanche de Castille and the guard room, with scenography by Giovanna Piraina. Three levels and the terrace are open to visitors. At the top, there's a breathtaking panorama of the city and its surroundings. A model of the city in the 17th century is also on display.
