A fountain whose water gushed directly from the rock and was believed to protect women in childbirth.
Listed as a historic monument, the Sainte-Radegonde fountain is mentioned in La Châtre archives as early as the 15th century. The water gushed directly from the rock, and was believed to protect women in childbirth, who went to the fountain to ensure a healthy pregnancy. Candles were burned to implore the saint's help. The small white stone chapel we see today was built during the Second Empire.
