WHEAT BRIDGE
Gallo-Roman bridge with two arches, listed as a Historic Monument and offering a beautiful view, in the lower part of La Châtre.
This magnificent two-arched Gallo-Roman stone bridge, restored in the early 2000s, is listed as a Historic Monument. It is located on the ancient Roman road in the lower part of the town. From the Place de l'Abbaye, it can be reached by climbing a flight of steps lined with flower-filled terraces.
Its elegant humpbacked curve allows you to cross over to the other side of the Indre. It offers a fine view of the river and its islands, as well as the old tanneries. The origin of its name is unclear.
