THE LAWNS OF THE KING'S WOODS
In place of the Bois du Roi, there are now remarkable calcareous lawns, home to some twenty species of orchid.
The Bois du Roi covers an area of 350 hectares. Until the early 20th century, its slopes were occupied by a vineyard that disappeared due to phylloxera. In its place now lie remarkable calcicole lawns, home to some twenty species of orchid. To appreciate this extraordinary biodiversity in the heart of the Champagne Berrichonne region, a 2.5-kilometer trail allows visitors to explore this exceptional site on foot or by bike.
