ST. MARTIN DE VIC CHURCH
Go there and contact
It is located within a small kilometer of George Sand's house and is visited all year round. This tiny Romanesque church covered with redwood tiles is an essential monument. George Sand understood the interest of this building transformed into barn during the Revolution. She had sought help from his friend Prosper Mérimée to speed up his rescue. This modest building houses frescoes that have made its international reputation. All the walls are painted. The facsimile of these paintings appears at the Museum of Historic Monuments and they were reproduced in Japan. We are conquered by their quality, by the amazing looks of the characters, by the colors and the movement that emerges. They are dated from the beginning of the xiith century and were carried out by the monks of the Abbey Abbey.
