GEORGE SAND'S HOUSE
House located in Nohant-Vic, with over 1,000 references on and by George Sand.
You're already under the spell when you arrive in this well-preserved village, with its little Sainte-Anne church with its russet-tiled roof, and then, just a stone's throw away, the large gates of the estate... At the end of the courtyard, behind the round flowerbed and its large tree, is the house: on the first floor, we visit the dining room, where the table is still set and where Chopin, Liszt, Balzac, Flaubert, Mérimée, Delacroix and Alexandre Dumas fils sat... Via the staircase and corridors decorated by Maurice Sand, we move upstairs to the curiosity cabinet, Chopin's bedroom, which George had converted into storage space after their break-up, and the blue room, with its Louis XVI walls and medallion hangings, where George Sand spent her last moments. And last but not least, Maurice's little theater, where people enjoyed playing and singing on winter evenings. With over 1,000 references on and by George Sand, stop by the bookshop, a mine of information and a treasure trove for fans young and old. Upstairs, visit the puppet show and don't forget to pay your respects at the author's tomb. Exciting guided tours are available for children.
