BOUCHET CASTLE
Red sandstone castle on the highest button of the Brenne with dwelling, towers, dungeons, terrace with view on the pond of the Red Sea.
Château du Bouchet is built on the highest "button" in the Brenne. Built of red sandstone, it dominates its surroundings. Its oldest buildings, the dwelling and two towers, date from the 13th century. There are also two keeps, the larger dating from the 14th century and the smaller from the 15th. Two wings of the château were rebuilt in the 17th century in the classical style.
From the terrace, you have a magnificent view of the beautiful Red Sea pond, which you can visit afterwards. A beautiful promenade runs alongside the pond. It's very popular on Sundays.
