This rock, which recounts the legend of the young people of the region, is one of the most beautiful natural sites in the department.
One of the most beautiful natural sites in the département. From the Rocher de la Fileuse on the right bank of the Creuse, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the ruins of the Château de Crozant, located in the Creuse region, on a rocky spur surrounded by two rivers, the Creuse and the Sédelle. This landscape is reached after a pleasant stroll along small paths lined with low dry-stone walls. To explain the name of this rock, it is said that every year a competition was held between the local girls. They had to spin wool from the top of the famous rock. Legend has it that the girl whose spindle hit the water first without the thread breaking was lucky enough to marry the lord's son or one of his companions and be richly endowed. Today, young girls use much stronger threads, as the Rocher de la Fileuse is used as a climbing school.
