THE WHEAT MARKET
Visit the Halle au Blé, a superb building and an important site for local commerce in a small village in Valençay.
The Halle au blé (wheat market) was once an important venue for local trade, particularly in cereals. This handsome building belonged to the Prince de Talleyrand before being bought by the town of Valençay. The thatched roof and dirt floor were replaced.
The red bricks and white tufa stone give this hall, located in the small village of Valençay, a lot of character. For more information, take the "Talleyrand" tour offered by the Tourist Office. You'll also find a market here on Tuesdays.
