This large, unobtrusive residence on Vatan's main street offers the pleasant surprise of having been lovingly decorated and refurbished by owner Zélie Venague, who took up residence in spring 2021. The garden of this former 18th-century coaching inn is a little paradise, with a glass roof full of flowers, roses and a vegetable garden. It's possible to request a table d'hôte or enjoy the benefits of a one-hour massage in your rooms or in the garden, booking 48 hours in advance. Zélie also offers a gîte with sauna and fitness area.

The Chic Room on the Ground Floor
It's a little cocoon with old-world charm, featuring moldings and decorated with antiques, an old Notary's safe, a desk area...
It is equipped with a Queen-size bed (160x200).

La Chambre du Notaire - available as a station wagon
Historically, this room was the Chambre du Notaire.
This spacious room is available as a double (for two) or family suite (for up to 5).
The master bedroom has a king-size bed (180x200).
The en-suite bathroom features a whirlpool bath, shower and double basins for your comfort
If you're traveling with more than two people, a second adjacent bedroom with up to 3 single beds is available.

Family Suite Balcony
The suite has two interconnecting bedrooms and can accommodate up to two adults and two children.
The master bedroom with balcony has a king-size bed (180x200), direct access to the shower room and air conditioning.
The children's bedroom, which communicates with the master bedroom, has 2 twin beds (70x190).
The balcony suite is located in an independent wing of the house and is served by a small corridor.
This suite comprises two communicating bedrooms. They are, however, independent, each having its own access to the shower room and toilet.

It comprises two bedrooms.
The master bedroom offers a soothing view of the garden and access to the shower room. The master bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed (180x190 cm). It is air-conditioned for your comfort in all seasons.
The second, connecting bedroom has two twin beds (90x190 cm): perfect for children or friends.
The shower room, accessible from the master bedroom, includes a large modern shower, toilet and washbasin with storage.

The romantic gîte with sauna
This 60m² space is entirely independent, with access from the street at the rear of the building (Rue Ferdinand Charbonnier).
The gîte is an open-plan, air-conditioned studio for your comfort in all seasons. It features a TV lounge area, king-size bed, dining area, fully-equipped kitchen and dressing room.
You have access to a relaxation area separate from the living room, where you can enjoy a moment of cocooning in the private sauna (infrared).

Owner's Message
I'm Zélie, and I welcome you all year round to my home.
Le Relais des Roses is a former 18th-century coaching inn, the stables still in the outbuildings used to house horses on their journeys across France (Vatan is on the road from Paris to Toulouse). The house then had several vocations before becoming a guest house, as it also housed a notary's office.
Today, I'm delighted to welcome you to the house myself, to help you discover its history and our beautiful Berry region ☀️.
Le Relais des Roses has 4 rooms and suites and a gîte. You'll have access to the large shady garden, and to the terrace surrounded by roses in fine weather. At the end of the day, you'll be able to enjoy a moment's peace and quiet on our chill-out loungers, hammocks or tree-hung chairs.
Catering is available on reservation:
- A traditional Frenchbreakfast is served every morning between 8 and 10 am.
It includes croissants, bread, homemade jams and honey, butter, orange juice, hot drinks (tea, coffee, milk, chocolate), fresh fruit, dried fruit, cereals, cookies, etc
It is offered free of charge for stays in rooms and suites, and is available as an extra for stays in the gîte at €7.00/person.
- Table d'hôtes, available every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, is served at 7:30pm.
We serve traditional cuisine, sometimes with a twist. I adapt to your allergies or food intolerances when preparing the menu.
Single menu: starter / main course / dessert €20.00 per person.
Children's menu up to 12 years on request.
We offer additional services:
- electric vehicle charging station: 0.40€/kwh - reservation recommended
- Massages at €80.00/1 hour (performed by a massage therapist who comes to the Relais: Massage by Aurore - please book directly with her on 06 61 77 39 40 or [email protected] ).
- Shared space with kitchen available free of charge
Last but not least, we're right in the center of Vatan, so the guest house is close to all the amenities in the village (brasserie, pizzeria, bar-tabac, press, bakery, tourist office, grocery store...).
