The history of this area begins from the Gallo-Roman era, some of which are still visible. The story is continuing and, in particular, François I or Honoré de Balzac, who put their fingerprints in it. In contrast with the castle of Azay-le-Rideau, this manor extends over an area of 33 hectares, bordered by the Indre.
