Several Puys du Chinonais, including that of Peru, are located in the commune of Beaumont-en-Véron. These characteristic sensitive natural areas are mounds of earth about 90 m high formed by erosion on a soil alternating sandy areas and limestone areas. They are rich in Mediterranean biodiversity, due to a particularly mild climate. Until the 19th century, windmills were located on the top of these hills and on the slopes asparagus and vines were cultivated. These Puys serve as a refuge for many protected species.
