ROCHEREAU JACK
Do not miss the Baillardière manor house in Berthenay. This building dates partly from the fifteenth century, while another part was built in the xviie. By entering the family residence of the Rochereau, you can admire the vestibule which has a magnificent wooden staircase carved in the seventeenth century. The staircase of the staircase is in itself a true work of art, a work of voluminous carving decorated with sculpted foliage. The chapel is of origin and comes from the fifteenth century building. You can discover ancient religious objects, but above all an extraordinarily well preserved ceiling, painted and divided into 175 decorated compartments. Paintings are dated in 1636. From rectangular plane, the chapel extends through a three-fold choir, lit by two bays in the full hanger, one of which has been murked. Part of the mansion has been transformed into a cottage with three stars at the meter. The site has been inscribed in the inventory of Historical Monuments since 1947.
