Collégiale Saint-Mexme, with a narthex featuring important medieval murals in Chinon.
This small monastery, conceived by Saint Mexme, a disciple of Saint Martin of Tours, became a collegiate church and the main religious building in Chinon. It is around the year 1000 that its oldest parts were added: the nave, the western part and its two towers. We owe their preservation to a vast restoration and rehabilitation project. Now a cultural place, the central nave hosts a small wooden theater. The narthex preserves important medieval mural paintings, associated with contemporary stained glasses of Olivier Debré since 2006.
