Situated on the banks of the Vienne, the first vineyard south of the Loire to be planted with Cabernet Franc, Chinon produces elegant, refined and sometimes powerful wines. Coming from gravelly terraces, they can be drunk young. On the other hand, when it comes from the clay-limestone slopes, it gives a wine that, with age, reaches a bloom worthy of the greatest. Chinon is a communal appellation, one of the most important in France, just below other prestigious appellations like Saint-Emilion or Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
