Château de Gizeux is the largest inhabited building in the Touraine region of Anjou. Built in the 14th and 16th centuries (with 18th-century outbuildings), it houses a treasure trove... You'll discover over 400 m² of murals from the time of Louis XIV, depicting the greatest royal castles. Thanks to the latest restoration work, you can now fully appreciate their splendor. For over 350 years, the château has been inhabited by the du Bellay family. Their current descendants open their doors to you for guided tours accessible to all ages. Géraud and Stéphanie de Laffon always offer a warm welcome, and will be delighted to show you around the château's rooms and sublime gardens. They'll be sure to tell you about the large avenue of plane trees damaged by a tornado in June 2021, and the solidarity of the local residents that followed. Every year, a number of events are scheduled, including storytelling, candlelight tours, gardening workshops and treasure hunts! And for the grown-ups, there's always a great photo exhibition. After the visit, the Grande Terrasse des jeux is the perfect place to extend this timeless day. Continue with a visit to the village of Gizeux, which is inseparable from its castle. Finally, you can indulge in the château lifestyle in one of the bedrooms, as the owners also offer bed and breakfast accommodation, after a candlelit dinner.
