Medieval castle with a medieval fortress, royal Renaissance stables, park and themed gardens.

Le Rivau is the perfect family getaway. Just ten minutes from Chinon, Château du Rivau offers a lively way to visit the châteaux of the Loire Valley, with an original museography, playful gardens classified as "Remarkable Gardens" and an audiovisual tour of the royal stables. With its fourteen exceptional gardens (listed as a Conservatoire de la rose parfumée), where works of art punctuate the visit with great humor, this château is an excellent family destination. The building, which has undergone very little remodeling, is an exceptional château, encircled by dry moats and tufa stone. The interior is just as majestic: vast rooms with Gothic architecture and walls adorned with Renaissance oil paintings. It's a château that marries authenticity and refinement. You can dine at the Table des Fées (locavore restaurant) or in the heart of the château, at chef Andrea Modesto's table, where he prepares gourmet cuisine using produce from the kitchen garden. The flower bar in the gardens offers tastings of drinks made from aromatic plants and flowers. Le Rivau also has 12 bedrooms, so you can enjoy the life of a château, between authenticity and modern comfort. Rose festivals, equestrian jousts, pumpkin festivals... Many events punctuate the year at the château. We highly recommend a visit to this smart and beautiful address!

Château du Rivau is located near Chinon. The batisse is pretty but inhabited, not fully visitable. What distinguishes it is its gardens, well flowered from May and colorful. There are also works of art such as giant boots and explanatory panels.

très beau petit château chargé d'histoire puisque Jeanne D'Arc s'y est arrêtée . Nous avons fait la chasse aux oeufs le week end de Pâques, les enfants sont pris en charge par des animatrices en costumes d' époque qui leur racontent une histoire et leur apprennent des danses anciennes et leur font deviner des énigmes pour découvrir les oeufs. Un grand parc où se promener et se poser dans des hamacs. Une véritables découvertes. Idéal pour un après midi en famille. On peut manger sur place mais penser à réserver, surtout pour la chasse aux oeufs

A beautiful garden. A walk through the tales of our childhood. Ideal for children and for adults. I advise to take the audio guide who explains in a fun way and as a game of track, the various gardens and the rooms of the castle.
For children can visit the château wearing of princess or chevalier (for rent at the reception for just €3)
Very good value... A cultural and fun discovery at the same time...
