Vineyard producing a very elegant white wine "Montlouis", very dry, soft, semi-dry or sweet and sometimes sweet.
Montlouis became an AOC in 1938 and covers 350 hectares between Amboise and Tours on the left bank of the Loire. A "taffeta wine" according to Rabelais, Montlouis has a secret ardour... It is made from the white Chenin grape, called Pineau de Loire here. It is a very elegant white wine that can be found dry, sweet, semi-dry or sweet, and sometimes sweet. It keeps well and matures in the bottle. Good to know: it can also be found sparkling (according to the traditional method); in this form, it makes an excellent cocktail wine.
