Based in Tauxigny, a fortnight south-east of Tours, the Astronomical Society of Touraine (SAT) is one of France's most dynamic associations in the field of astronomy. It has its own observatory and organizes public evenings of discovery of the sky to the naked eye and telescope, in particular the famous Astronomical Nights of Touraine, the Nights of Stars and other annual national events, or on the occasion of specific astronomical events (in an eclipse for example). Not far from the observatory, at the mill level of Ligoret (which offers quality accommodation), a 6 m diameter planetarium that can accommodate 25 people is also accessible, with two different sessions on the program, a trip into the Solar System and a voyage into the Universe with, for the preamble, a presentation of the night sky visible. of the sitting. The SAT finally offers interesting "astronomical hikes" to combine walking in and around the village and scientific knowledge through two routes to evocative names: Discover the sky (distance 2.5 km) and on the trail of planets (6 km)! Astronomical hikes, each step made representing 1 million kilometers traveled!
