CINEMATHEQUE HENRI LANGLOIS
Founded in 1972, the Cinémathèque Henri Langlois is a municipal cultural structure managed by the Henri Langlois Association. It boasts a large collection of film posters, from 1945 to the present day, and conducts research into the history of cinema in Touraine. The association's mission is to help people discover or rediscover films that have left their mark on the history of cinema, whether famous masterpieces or projects that have fallen into oblivion. Every Monday, the association offers a screening at the Studio cinemas, with one or two films each time, as part of thematic cycles - the western, the war, the avant-garde.. It's an opportunity to delve into the history of cinema and discover rare films, as well as to learn and exchange with members of the association and invited guests (directors, academics, critics...). The cinémathèque is also involved in a number of image education initiatives in schools, and takes part in other cultural events throughout the year, such as the Italian film festival Viva Il Cinema, Plumes d'Afrique, which focuses on African cultures, Planète Satourne for children, and many others.
