EUROPEAN FEDERATION SAINT MARTIN CULTURAL CENTER
17 centuries after sharing his coat with a poor man, Martin was recognised as a "European character, symbol of sharing, common value" by the Council of Europe. The General Council of Indre-et-Loire therefore wished to develop its cultural heritage by creating three hiking trails linked to the city's patron saint. These paths commemorate Martin's abduction by the Tourangeaux from his abbey of Ligugé (near Poitiers) to make him their third bishop in 371. The 236 km of the route crosses towns linked to Martin's history and you can discover their architectural heritage (castles, abbeys, fountains, churches...). It takes 9 days of walking to walk through it in its entirety. Some portions are accessible to people with reduced mobility and the project remains to develop them. These paths are very beautiful walks in perspective, alone or with the family... To take these paths is to confront the authenticity of the adventure, not to hesitate to go and meet the other and discover nature.
