ST. GEORGE'S CATHEDRAL
Cathedral of Saint-Gatien in Tours, with a choir with a beautiful example of French stained glass art, and towers of 69 and 70 m
You can see it as soon as you arrive in Tours, with its two towers which culminate at 69 and 70 meters: the cathedral is a must! A masterpiece combining Gothic and Renaissance architecture, this building is the fourth religious place built on the site. Joan of Arc and several kings of France as well as the pilgrims of Compostela stopped here. It has 800m² (8,000 sq ft) of high windows, and its choir is a fine example of 12th century French stained-glass art. The transept and sunset roses, dedicated to Saint Martin, were made between 2010 and 2013.
