SAINT MARTIN'S BASILICA OF TOURS
A few meters from the rue Rapin and the ruins of the old Saint-Martin basilica of Tours is the Saint-Martin museum.
The Basilique Saint-Martin, located in the historic Martinopole district of Tours, has a rich history. Built on the site of a much larger former basilica, destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries, the current basilica dates from 1925. Right next door is the tomb of Saint Martin, a figure venerated throughout the medieval West. The majestic Tour Charlemagne, a vestige of the former basilica, today offers a breathtaking view of the city of Tours. A place of pilgrimage and a symbol of Tours' heritage, the Basilica of Saint Martin is well worth a visit.
