MUSEUM OF THE AERIAL TELEGRAPH CHAPPE
A telegraph tower that worked during the French Revolution from 1793 onwards.
This 23-meter-high tower, with its Z-shaped antenna next to the village church, is still very strange... It's the Chappe tower, named after the brothers who invented the semaphore. This optical transmission relayed information as far as Bayonne in 40 minutes. The importance of this "visual" telegraphy with its 98 geometric figures during the French Revolution... The Baccon tower has been restored to become a museum. A wonderful idea... to be passed on!
