ABBATIALE NOTRE-DAME
What remains of this church is the choir, with its extremely rare acoustics, which ensures the possibility of concerts.
It was in this abbey church that the Council of 1152 annulled the marriage of King Louis VII of France to Eleanor of Aquitaine, who went on to marry the future King of England, Henry Plantagenet. The "first" Hundred Years' War followed. Nowadays, concerts are held here all year round, and the acoustics are sublime, with music lovers in heaven... The church's unassuming facade hides a rare architectural beauty, organs, modern stained-glass windows and an Assumption (1661) by Orléans painter Michel Corneille.
