ORTHODOX MONASTERY OF THE GREGORIAN SAINTS OF NICOPOLIS AND MARTIN LE SEUL
With Carolingian oratory in Germigny, the Church of St. Martin is one of the oldest Religious Buildings in. From Armenia in the th century, Saint Gregory of Nicopolis had been received by Dame Héloïse de Pithiviers and had retired for seven years in a cave in Saint-Martin-le-Only. After his death in 997, and during the ensuing millennium, a pilgrimage took place on the places where he lived and on the chapel of the Good lady, where miraculous healings were taking place. This pilgrimage always exists every Saturday following Orthodox Pentecost. The remains of the saint are locked in a socket of more than 100 kg, installed in the Pithiviers museum, which has been closed for a long time. The church experienced an original journey. Carried under Catholic rule, it is the subject of an agreement between the two faiths when a Roman sister settles in the adjacent private building. The commune and the diocese then authorize the use of the church and its meublement in the way of Orthodox churches, with icons and tapestries. Sister Anne having since left the Romanian Orthodox Church, the church is in an uncertain situation. In spite of everything, the municipality has demonstrated its willingness to raise funds to allow it to recover.
