GATEHOUSE CASTLE
Brick and stone castle with Renaissance style ceiling, artists' residence and Municipal Exhibition Center.
The Château de Trousse-Barrière is a must-see, especially as its architecture dares to combine a rare combination of brick and ashlar. Built between 1895 and 1890 by Paul Yver, with its unusual stained-glass windows and Renaissance-style coffered ceiling, it showcases the region which, along with Briare enamels and Gien earthenware, was a great source of inspiration. Today, it has been transformed into an artists' residence and a municipal exhibition center. A fitting return!
