HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Installed in the old hotel-Dieu of the city, set up in the fifteenth century in the buildings of the former templière order, this museum - which harbors its name in the light of its diversity - is already interested in its novel porch, restored in the seventeenth century by Isabelle Angélique, widow of Gaspard IV of Coligny, who became a princess an illustrious representative of the family of Montmorency. This museum presents the results of archeological excavations in Cortrat, but also throughout the canton. Religious statues, furniture and paintings representing the illustrious family as well as the writings of Gaspard II of Coligny during the religious wars complement the collections. Currencies and ex-voto gallo-Roman, barbarian tombs dating back to centuries: Archeology has a consistent place, too. We can finally discover a large room presenting the scientific work of the four generations Becquerel and learn more about natural radioactivity and the nuclear system. Have a nice time for the visit…
