L'ÎLE À GASTON
From the Mantelot lock, two marked paths of two and three kilometers allow you to discover this natural site of almost 70 hectares, sometimes called "the island of Ousson". On the flora side, we can observe the burnt orchis, beautiful orchid orchid with white and white flowers, as well as the fall scam - small purple plant very discreet - both protected at the regional level. There are also beautiful black poplars, typical of the Loire edges. Ancestral trees that contain and preserve many insects and forest birds. This ligerous landscape oscillates between sand strikes and alluvial forest, high-grass wetlands and areas of meadows, as well as dry lawns, punctuated with bushes and bordered by hedges. She starts her departure at the beginning of the famous - but less known because enigmatic - Loire islands. The deposited lights give birth to these moving surfaces never the same and always recommenced, depending on the seasons.
