SAINTE OLGA CHURCH
In the 1920 s, following the Russian revolution, many Russian white Russians returned to France. Many of them arrived in the Montargois because of a high need for staff for Hutchinson factory. Arrivals coincide with that of the Chinese in Montargis, very important from the historical point of view because of the personalities who lived there, especially Deng Xiaoping. In 1925, the Russian community built a wooden church on land owned by the factory, with the authorization of the leaders. But they needed to recover this parcel in order to build the cities to accommodate their employees. Also, this second church was built in 1933, still on a ground provided by the factory. It was first renovated in 1961 before being recently restored with the help of the Heritage Foundation, very active on this department. Its interior is therefore in perfect condition. This building is always used for orthodox worship. The white Russians who have disappeared, the services performed in Russian are followed by the converted non-Russians and, more recently, by new immigrants from the former USSR.
