LES NOCTURNES DE FERRIÈRES
The human activity of Ferrières-en-Gâtinais dates back several centuries before our era with the exploitation of the iron deposits that gave the village its name. It is in the 3rd century that the story really begins with the evangelization of the inhabitants of the place and the creation of the first chapel. Clovis would have founded the first abbey there, whose importance is such that many kings like Pepin le Bref, Dagobert, Henri IV or Louis XIII came here to hunt or pray. Louis III was crowned there with his brother Carloman. Other visitors have passed through Ferrières, the most famous is perhaps Attila with his Huns who, repulsed by the armies of Aetius before Orleans, razed the town to the ground and massacred its inhabitants. The Nuits de Ferrières were created to tell the rich history of the village, which has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. They retrace the epic history of the town with great historical rigour, which is reflected in the quality of the costumes and reconstructions. The visitor walks through the village to discover its medieval past reconstituted by an army of enthusiasts.
