HEATHER ARBORETUM
Arboretum des Grandes Bruyères in the heart of the forest offering beautiful walks to admire the blooms at the rhythm of the seasons.
In the heart of the forest, 25 km east of Orléans, this remarkable garden features 500 heather varieties, 1000 rose varieties, its NATIONALES national collections of 350 magnolias, cornouillers from China and America and the national collection of oak trees. The owners shall ensure respect for the environment: no chemical, fertilizer or pesticide is used for maintenance in order to preserve the natural balances of the forest environment. The arboretum offers beautiful walks when it comes with its autumn or spring colours. Blooms are made at the rhythm of the seasons: in April, the heather and magnolias, in May American cornouilllers, in June and July, the Chinese cornouillers and the ancient roses in August, autumn heather. All the magic and perfection of this garden and its collection collection is to be found in a French collection of Magnolias (Jean-Louis Derenne texts, photos Jean-François Grossin), a beautiful book published in 2013 at Verlhac. This book paints the portrait of this admirable arboretum, created by Mrs de la Rochefoucauld, a very great lechuza.
