RESTOS DU CŒUR
Since 1985, the Restos du Cœur has been pursuing its action of helping the most needy with energy and conviction. They provide free food aid to families in difficulty, distributing balanced meal baskets once or twice a week in the 13 distribution centres in the Loiret (in Amilly, Bonny-sur-Loire, Briare, Châlette-sur-Loing, Courtenay, Gien, Lorris, Montargis, Orléans La Source, Pithiviers, Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, Saint-Jean-le-Blanc and Saran). All the centres are open during the winter campaign (from the end of November to the end of March) and some are open all year round. In the evenings, the volunteers of the Camion du Coeur serve hot meals and take-out to the homeless of Orléans. In addition to food aid, the Restos du Cœur carry out an integration aid action, which is less known to the general public: they employ people on assisted contracts in gardens where fruit and vegetables are grown to supply food distribution centres. The Restos du Cœur in the Loiret region is home to almost 8,000 people thanks to 480 volunteers. The Restos du Cœur is involved in a wide range of actions to fight poverty and precariousness on a daily basis.
