THE BRICK KILN
There are about thirty ovens in the commune of Jouy-le-Potier, one of which was restored in the 1980s.
This village takes its name from the many potters who occupied the territory in the Middle Ages. This activity is well represented and it is possible to attest to the existence of about thirty kilns in this commune. Many of these buildings were destroyed during the Hundred Years War. However, traces of 13 of them have been found, notably at Champerdu and Champs-Bretons. One of these ovens was restored in the 1980s by volunteers from an association. It stands imposingly on the road leading from Jouy to Cléry.
