THE MOUND OF ELECTED OFFICIALS
Whether it is named Butte des Local, Mont des Local or Butte de Mézière, this building is a perfect place to stay. It is a mound dating back to the Gallic era. In 1750, excavations made it possible to update jewellery, armor and bronze vase. Two swords were also discovered and bore the archéologuqes because they were curiously folded on itself… With a circumference of 70 m, this funeral monument erected in the iron age presents the additional singularity of being surmounted by a statue of the Virgin, which culminates 12 m high. This strange building is located on the loop of the Loire route by bike passing through the Basilica of Cléry and the vineyard of Mareau-aux-Prés.
