FRILL GARDENS
Gardens created at the request of Renée de France, daughter of Louis XII and Anne de Bretagne, in Montargis.
These gardens were created at the request of Renée de France, daughter of Louis XII and Anne de Bretagne. Long since lost, the town has rediscovered the plans drawn up by the architect Androuet du Cerceau, and the labyrinths of hornbeam, squares of fruit and flower trees lined with boxwood, and palisades of rosebushes, including varieties found in Renaissance gardens, are making a comeback. The fragrant dog rose is one example. The ensemble is not yet complete, and it will certainly be some time before you can visit it all.
