For a few days, Orléans returns to the Middle Ages with equestrian shows, activities, a medieval market...
There's no doubt that Joan of Arc has remained close to the hearts of the people of Orléans. Ever since La Pucelle liberated the city, celebrations in her memory have been held every year from the end of April to May 8, the date commemorating the city's liberation in 1429. Since then, a chosen young girl in armor has been ennobled to represent her, the link in an invisible chain that enriches the French heart in these days when the city makes a salutary leap back to the Middle Ages. The Fêtes Johanniques are world-famous. 2029 will see the 600th anniversary of the Liberation of Orléans!
