LA TABLE DU BANQUET
Sculpture to honor the name of Jean Zay, deputy and general councillor for Loiret, then Minister of Education.
Honoring the name of Jean Zay (1904-1944) remains, at least in Orléans, a duty. A member of parliament and general councillor for the Loiret region, then Minister of National Education and Fine Arts under President Léon Blum, he took bold steps to help young people spread knowledge. La Table du Banquet, a 25 m sculpture by Anne and Patrick Poirier, bears witness to this. Wouldn't it have been preferable to erect vertical structures shaping a labyrinth like the meanders of thought, rather than a seemingly inanimate horizontal mass?
