ST. AVIT'S CRYPT
The Saint-Avit crypt, devoid of sculptures, once housed the relics of the abbot of Micy.
It's hard to believe that under a schoolyard is a crypt. And yet! The only remnant of the collegiate church of Saint Avit, built in the 11th century on the site of a Merovingian monastery, the crypt of Saint Avit is devoid of sculptures. Successively demolished in 1428, 1562, 1657 and 1667, it was rediscovered by chance during the 19th century. This crypt, which once housed the relics of the abbot of Micy, is made up of two vaulted rooms with arches. It can be visited during a tour led by a guide from the Orléans Tourist Office.
