BANNER DOOR
The Bannier Gate is one of the last known remains of the medieval wall of Orléans built between 1486 and 1556.
If you are attentive when you walk on the place du Martroi, a trap door or rather a large concrete slab can be lifted thanks to a remote control, in aplomb of the statue of Joan of Arc, gives access to a staircase which allows us to penetrate in the undergrounds of the city. At the side of the parking lot, behind a glass window, we can see superb vestiges of the medieval city walls. The view is well highlighted. Discovered in 1986, the Bannier gate is one of the last known vestiges of the medieval wall of Orléans built between 1486 and 1556.
