ST. DONATIAN CHURCH
One of the oldest churches located in the heart of old Orleans, housing the remains of Saint Donatien and Saint Rogatien.
In the heart of old Orléans, near the Place du Châtelet, the church of Saint-Donatien has stood in the city's skyline since the 12th century. Considered one of the oldest churches in Orléans, it housed the remains of Saint Donatien and Saint Rogatien, both martyred in Nantes under the Emperor Maximin. Seriously damaged during the siege of the English in 1429, then by the Protestants in 1562 and 1568, its reconstruction was not completed until the beginning of the 18th century. Disused during the Revolution, it was transformed into a workshop for cartwrights.
