SHELL HOUSE
This residence is one of the remarkable examples of Renaissance architecture in Orléans.
In the Châtelet district, between the Loire River and the Halles, this building - one of the oldest in the city - served as a stopover for pilgrims on their way to Compostela. Note the carved shell above the door. Built in the 16th century and classified as a historical monument in the 19th century, this house has long been abandoned. Despite this, it has remained in an exceptional state of preservation. Bought by a promoter, who ensured its renovation, this house is one of the remarkable examples of Renaissance architecture in Orléans.
