MAISON JEAN D'ALIBERT
The richness of the decoration of this house reflects the richness of its inhabitants.
A few houses give a fairly accurate idea of the rich appearance of Orléans during the Renaissance. One of the most interesting testimonies of this period is undoubtedly the house of Jean D'Alibert, a merchant from Orléans. Built in the 1560's on the site of a medieval house, it has the same plan and proportions. The main building on the street has a high and narrow main façade. The richness of its decoration testifies to that of its inhabitants: semicircular arches, geminated bays, pilasters and cartouches.
