HOUSE OF JEANNE D'ARC
Renovated for the sixth centenary of Jeanne d'Arc's birth, in 2012, this wonderful brick and half-timbered residence is the reconstruction of the one in which Jeanne d'Arc lived in 1429, during the siege of Orleans. Arrived on the 29th of April, she stayed there until the following 9th of May, the day after the lifting of the siege. In a simple and bright decor and where wood contributes to the authenticity of the place is traced this episode which, five centuries later, remains etched in the memory of Orleans. On the ground floor, the media room offers interactive terminals, cartography of the epic of Jeanne d'Arc and a chronology illustrated by the heroine through the centuries. Retracing the life of the Virgin, an animated film in English and French is screened every hour from October to March (low season), and every half an hour from April to September. This address also houses Centre Jeanne d'Arc upstairs, research and documentation centre gathering thousands of documents, notably most of the works written on Jeanne d'Arc. It's dedicated to teachers, students and school children, in groups or individually (free access upon reservation, from Monday to Friday).
