OLD QUARTERS
Largely due to the bombing, the city has kept few old houses: these are located in several streets of Orléans, especially around the Rue de Bourgogne, which was once the main axis of the city. The rue du Tabour was also damaged by 1940 rockets, but it retained the facade of the house of the Fox gate (1540). At number 35, of course, the famous Jeanne d'Arc's house is found, since it stayed from April 29 to May 9, 1429. It was the home of Jacques Boucher, treasurer of the Duke of Orleans. This house was struck by a municipal alignment order in 1908 and only the façade remains, the Jeanne d'Arc's bedroom no longer exists. It is also rue du Tabour that is located in the house of Euverte Hatte, built from 1524 to 1528 by a bourgeois city. This residence, which belonged to the cartoonist Desfriches in the th century and was then acquired by the city in the th, was also struck by a municipal order of alignment that removed at the facade part of its character. You can't advise you to walk randomly from the streets where you will discover as nice houses and some very pleasant places.
