CHURCH OF OUR LADY AND ITS TWISTED BELL TOWER
The spires twisted - pronounce torso! - are rare in France (less than 70) and most of them are concentrated in Anjou. That of the church of Puiseaux is therefore a double exception… because its effect twisted would only be a manufacturing error! The helical effect appears to have been obtained after a poor drying of wood following work at the turn of the th and th centuries… A nice mistake in this case, because the torsion is perfectly smooth. She is therefore scrupulously maintained during the restorations. Note the sculptures on the church portal and, inside, the presence of a polychrome tomb dating back to the th century.
