FLEURY ABBEY
Abbey with a crypt containing the relics of Saint Benedict, a jewel of Romanesque art in the Loire Valley and a center of pilgrimage.
When we think of Fleury Abbey, we inevitably think of the poet and discoverer of many artistic talents and geniuses of the early 20thcentury , including Picasso: Max Jacob (1876-1944). This year marks the 80th anniversary of his tragic death. Most visitors to this abbey come for this major reason. Nevertheless, the vocation of this religious place is still initiation and formation in prayer, and anyone wishing to do so is welcome to do so. We also know that you can stay here if you respect the rules of this retreat.
